how to clean velvet off knives?

Post by becko »

Well I'm full of questions on my first day  -- I have a red letter Case set ( 2 dots), and unfortunately I think they were oiled then put back in the case. And they sort of stuck to the case? Or maybe it happened over time. There are velvet particles on parts of the knives-- It seems to wipe right off of blades other, but is there a good way to clean this off w/o harming the knives? Is this a common issue with sets of this era? I don't think they are harmed they look nice in every other way beautiful stainless blades and stag handles. thank you in advance once again

I would probably try soaking them down with wd40 & wiping them gently.
