Help on an old Remington

I was going thru abox i'd forgot i had and found this in with several different items i had found while metal detecting years ago. Id like to find out its pattern, age, how should i clean it up a lil, or not? its missing its back scale, is it valuable enough to warrant repair? and if so any reccomendations on who to get to repair it?
I hate to ask so much but due to being paralyzed its hard for me to go thru price and identity guides and i know you guys are very knowledgable so i thought i'd ask. thanks much in advance!

Hi Tank;
Your knife, probably early twenties. Im sure RemCo will be along soon to verify.
Dont mean to sound unsympathetic but after crawling your great website its obvious that you have abilities that few here can claim. If you go to top of this page and click on research there is a darn nice section on remingtons that will show most if not all of their tang stamps.

Thanks Moss!, i looked at the tang stamps in the guide and I think you're right. Thats a great guide. I'm gonna try to clean the back just enough to get the pattern number.

Mossdancer is correct, early to mid 20's on the date. I think you have a R100B. It is one of the few patterns that has a punch blade without an acorn shield. Value is not very high considering the condition. Maybe $40 - $50. If it were mine , I would replace the handle, clean it up and make an everyday knife out of it. It would be hard to beat. On A side note, the R100B sold new for $1.00 in 1938, and if in mint condtion can fetch over $300 today.
