As one of you got your posting question answered in the other thread this is in case you are interested in overall Buck history.

300 series pocket knives break down first into two basic groups USA and China made. Overseas knives will be modeled numbered 37X and USA no 7 as second number.

Schrade made the first couple. The pivot pins IN the bolster are hidden, blow breath on the bolster and try to see lack of or see pin. Also Schrades have a swedge along the top of the main clip blade that extends over the nail nic. Which will look like the left top edge has been mitered slightly. Most Schrades have scale pins, but so do the first Camillus made 300s. As per the other post yours was made in a period of years with large numbers being sold. Camillus continued to make some 300s up to the time they were sold out. Buck took over production of the 301,303,309 and 305 in late 1985. They have also produced in house the 312, 314 and now the 302. From 86 to 89 you will find knive with a scale shield that says BUCK, but it was printed not etched and can wear off pretty easily, the standard was the stamp knife,bolt and hammer shield. They changed to a style of a spring for every blade, SS liners and went from flat to tapered grinding on the blades. Scale materials have been black sawcut delrin for most part but you will find red, yellow, stag, etc. as special issue models. Beginning in 1986 a date coding system was started with stampings on the tang of the main blades. Newer models will have a more rounded bolster shape and the blue anvil shield..

That should give you a start on 'seeing' the Buck 300 series. Buck has always been about a solid working style knife. Fancy scales, mirror polishing, etc., happens only once in a while.
