Levines #4
Well, I had to see this one for myself. $75.00!!
Collectors should know that supply and demand drives prices up. I doubt you'll find it for less, but I would suggest you try some of the used book search sites on the Internet.

That's three to try. Good luck.

i have found many bargains on amazon.com. i got a used sargent's guide for $11. including shipping. you just have to keep looking for the title you want. kinda like watching knives on the bay. they have levines occasionally as well as others.

Thanks for your tips and links, checked them all and your right, $92.00 was the cheapest I could find one, and their was only one. Between the link I got from acourvil, and yours I've only seen two avail in the last four months so, taking from the vast wisdom of this sites members on knives, values, and collectability of things and my desire for this book, AG Russell has just got a new customer. I clicked back to the link after my purchase and it still showed avail so they must have more than the one copy if anybody else is interested.

I was fortunate enough to find a #4 last April at the OKCA show in Eugene OR. Bernard was at the show and was gracious enough to sign it for me. Another guy was at Bernard's table & asked where I got it & how much. I pointed to the table half way across the hall and said $32.00. The guy broke into a dead run through the crowded hall to get the last copy the vendor had.

Version four was the last one that Bernard actually had anything to do with as I understand it. I think there was something that went on with the publisher or something, I don't know the details, but I do know that a lot of collectors won't touch a version later than #4.needbucks wrote:Hi. Come on down. It isn't that far. We go to Helena all the time to visit grand kids. It is only about 12-14 hours depending on rest stops.Grizzly_Dog wrote:Orvet, sounds like a great show! I need to look into trying to make it to one. Oregon isnt that far from Mt, and I've yet to make it to a knife show. Wonder if i should tell the wife
It is the best show I have ever been to (which isn't that many), but I am told that it the best show anywhere.
Bring the wife, she can go sight seeing and watch the Hippies, (Yes, they still have Hippies in Eugene).

Orvet, I just drove 21 hrs to get to Texas to kill a pig, well a bunch of pigs, so 12hrs to scope out a show like that shouldnt be to bad. I have a brother who lives in Port Townsend out of Seattle so I could just plan a little "family trip" to go see him around the time of the show
. Keep me posted on when the next one is if you dont mind?

Unfortunately #5 is an out and out farce according to Bernie in his own words. Go to his website at http://www.knife-expert.com and read up on the entire story there.
Also there may(might) be a new batch of #4's up for sale over there already, if so folks can get one signed from the author him self!.
Blessings,
Anthony
