As many of you know I’m a fan of Rough Rider & Marbles knives made in China. I ordered another 48 knives to engrave, they came in last night.

All of the rough Riders & Marbles are beautiful! I know some you don’t like China made anything, I’m more open minded about that issue. My dad didn’t like Japan because they bombed Pearl Harbor but when he died he owned a Toyota pick up.

I hadn’t seen the Schrade knives that are now being made in China. I ordered just 2 of them to see how the quality was. Really bad guys. My 10 year old grand son could do a better job grinding the scales. The over-all finish was poor. They are going in the junk box.

Just wanted to give you guy’s a heads up of what my experience was. Please don’t turn this into a bashing thread - Tom

The Rough Rider knives have a better fit and finish than other brands of china made knives. Just my opinion.

i dont own any marbles or schrade knives, that is the china version.....but i own about 2 dozen RRs..cant beat them for good working knives. also nice to give as gifts to the working man,, or lady..

Hey Tom i've never bought one a the Marbles but always assumed they were from the same factory as RR's and several of the other China made knives--Do you have any feed back on that?? i've bought mostly RR's and have a few Congress i picked up over the last couple years and they're pretty much the same blades on them--i'd have to check what they're actually called but they are china's

I'm sure there are more than one factory - the Marbles & the RR appear to come out of the same plant - I was told that the steel come from Japan - tom

No problem,I found the handle material when your ready - The Marbles are very nice - they charge more for them because of the name - just be careful with the Schrade - tom

Hi - Gringo -I sold big dollar knives for many years - still sell a few - not everyone can afford 500 to 1000 dollars or more for a custom knife - I have been doing the customizing for 30 years selling to those folks who enjoy a nice knife - something their really proud of and can afford - I can engrave these RR knives & sell them for 55 bucks in most patterns! I have engraved customers children names on many of them - birthday presents - 20 years from now I won't be here but my knives will be & I would guess RR will be main stream - Just like all the "JAP CRAP" haters that were around a few years ago. The real classic is the Harley guys - Buy American when 50 to 85% of the parts on their Harley’s are made in Twain - go into any Harley Dealership & look at the hundred of items on the chrome racks - every piece of chrome parts are made in Twain. We had a boom in the USA after WW2 - we built a lot of stuff - you know why we were able to do that - we bombed all the other plants in the world - we were the only ones with factories left standing - Other folks have been catching up - Did you know Mr. Honda when he went to college refused to take test!
He said he was there to learn, not to waist his time on taking test. Mr. Honda was a very smart man that.

You do good work, I just wish you did it on better canvas. I think we can have different points of view and still be civil, but you implied those opposed to Chinese knives are not "open minded"
China is in fact a Communist totalitarian regime, its industries funnel our money into a military machine that is currently war gaming against US forces and our foreign policy is hamstrung by our mounting debt to them. China ain't our friend anymore than Bin Laden is, their difference only lies in methodology, bombs versus debt load, but their goal is very much the same.
In most things anymore we have little choice in what we buy is made, but knives we still do
The time labor/cost to make one of your creations is the same whether done on a Chinese knife versus say a Case.
If I could afford a custom engraved knife I would certainly pay an extra $20-30.00 for one on an American made frame and I expect most would.

I leave you with one other thought, this according to Diane Sawyer on ABC news, hardly a right wing nut case... If every US citizen spent an extra $3.33 on a US made item we could add 10,000 jobs

10,000 jobs is a pimple on an elephants arse when you look at the big picture - In LA they have more illegals waiting in the emergency room for free health care than that - The folks in DC don't seem to have any trouble doing business with China. Our President bows to them - Buck knives sell's their international series -Schrade - Case knife subs out some of their knife scales to be installed - where do you think that is done - do you really think it's done in Georgia! but thats another big secrete - John Wayne apple pie & a Case knife - They would never out sourse would they ????? - The quality control at Case knives is poor/fair at best! They want top dollar for a lower end product! Why in the world would anyone watch ABC New's is beyond me - actually not many do if you look at the ratings I think they might be ahead of NBC but not by much. I have 6 kids to feed & put through school, why do we have 6 kids and have raised dozens more - because their drug out, dead beat parents are unfit to take care of them. I'll do what i have to to get these kids the best life i can. If i have to buy my knives from China i will do so, can't make a living buying US - My time is running out, I have fought all the wars i want to fight - so from this point on all i will post is spam pix's of my work & if the mods here want to delete then they can do so - if i can help someone with question's about knives - i don't mind helping - they can either PM me or E-mail me, i will no longer answer to threads - it's 9:30 - i'm going out to the shop & get a couple more hours of bench time in. I'm not going to weigh in pro or con on Chinese made knives, however....

Please DO NOT spread the misinformation that Case has some of their assembly work done in CHINA unless you can offer proof in the form of an acknowledgment from Case that supports it.

Tom Hudson made a respectful request at the start of this thread that it not be made into an anti Chinese rant.

Test Case everyone who frequents AAPK has by now read your thoughts and positions on the Chinese made knives and it's not necessary or desirable for you to continue to hijack thread after thread to repeat your position. WE GET IT. YOU DON'T LIKE CHINA. YOU DON'T LIKE CHINESE KNIVES. YOU DON'T THINK WE SHOULD BUY THEM!

Anyone who may wish to post their political views, there is a forum called "General Off Topic Discussion'. Go there and express yourself respectfully. In the meantime, lets talk knives here not politics.

I will delete any other posts made here or elsewhere that I deem to be off topic and will be particularly stringent in removing those with political or personal overtones.
