I was down at my grandfather's place the other day, our conversation turned to knives as usual, we started to talk about his dad's knife, a Western trapper.
He looked at me and said ''whenever your ready for it.''
It's now one of my greatest knives I own, I love the history it has in it's deep patina, I wish I could have met him, but he died before I was even a twinkle in anyones eye.
Here's a picture.
can you imagine your grandfather taking this knife from his pocket to cut a lenght of rope or maybe shave some wood off your dads toy plane...your a very lucky man to have that piece of family history
Gringo, already taken care of, I knew I was gonna hear something about that.
Chet, I'm not going to the show. Right now I don't have the money to add anything nice to the collection, and I don't feel like torturing myself like that.
I'm very proud to be the new owner of a knife that my great grandfather actually carried, I love the thoughts of that.
Caleb that is a great knife that has a great story to go with it. Something tells me your great grandfather would have been pleased to know his knife had found its way down the generational line to such a fine young man who could appreciate it and take good care of it.
Way to go Caleb!! That knife is way cool!! DONT loose it!! All the history in it and you told me that you like old!! Again very nice and a great pic too!! John

Beautiful knife Johnny T. and great photo. You're pretty lucky to be the heir to something like that. You'll always
remember the day your grandfather gave you that knife.

Here is mine but its worthless in meaning compared to yours! I always loved this knife and turned down many a trade for it. I know yours will be special to you! :: nod::
It has a very special place in my collection for sure.
My great grandfather didn't really like big game hunting, but I hear he loved to hunt small game, and that he was good at it.
I guess he put a lot of food on the table from hunting, I can only imagine how many animals were cleaned out with this knife, I enjoy just holding this knife, thinking of the times it's seen.
Thanks guys for showing me your knives, very nice.
Great knife. I have a beat up and rusted knife that I traded a new trapper(case) to my Uncle for. He lost the new case the next week, but I still have his KaBar trapper. It means more to me than the Case dot Trapper.... He probably found it, because it has been out in the weather for awhile. This trade took place before he died, in the early 70's.. It is good we can appreciate our predecessors and remember them with something they appreciated..

Awesome Johnny, your great grandfather's knife!
I don't have a knife that goes that far back in the family.
That is really cool! Do you have a picture of your great grandfather?
