A question about a Schrade

Is this knife a real Schrade? The shield says Parker Frost, and so does one side of the tang on the main blade. The other side says Shrade 1978--2 as you can see from the photos. Do not know what quality of knife this was, but I think it was a good find! Also, this knife, and several other old ones I have found the last few weeks, have a lot of dirt and other gunk (technical term!..

) down inside of them where the blades rest. What can I use to clean that? Once again I thank all of you in advance for your wisdom!

Schrade made a few contract knives for Parker Frost company when it existed. So I would have no doubt that it would be a Schrade knife, made for Parker Frost.

It is indeed a contracted knife for parker frost. As far as the gunk goes, a toothpick and toothbrush (technical tools for a technical job on technical terms

) with somne warm soapy water should do the trick.

Good for you mikekoz.
Best way to learn is ASK.
I use Ren-Wax and a Que tip.
Ren-Wax and Johnson & Johnson stim-u-dent plaque removers (it is just a wood stick ) with a pice of old CLEAN T-shirt.
FLITZ Polish and Que-tip or FLITZ and wood stick with T-shirt.
Get it yet Flat stick and T-shirt to get in the small places.
Que-Tip in big places.

Here are four things that I find to be invaluable when CLEANING out/up a pocketknife. If you're fortunate, you'll only need three of these things.

1. Break Free...works great at floating gunk, lint, whatever, out of the action of a folding knife.

2. Small foam cleaner from Sentry Solutions, and in some cleaning kits. I prefer foam cleaners, as they leave no cotton fuzz, or bits of toothpick behind, and they don't scratch like a pipecleaner might.

3. Larger foam "barbell" type cleaner...really for eye makeup...available at beauty supply shops (lots of cute girls too!).

4. Reading/Magnifying glasses...your mileage may vary on these.

The complete Parker Frost set of USA made knive, 1978. Many people are unaware that Jim Parker & Jim Frost at one time dealt in fine, American made knives like the one you show us, Mikeoz.

That is an incredible collection! I wonder what my chances are of finding something like that at a flea market!!!???....). Thank you for all of your responses!
