Best Customer Service- Thanks Joe, Jeanine & team!

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Best Customer Service- Thanks Joe, Jeanine & team!

Post by orvet »

I have dealt with a lot of customer service departments of different companies.
I managed a cutlery store in the '80s up until '92 and had occasion to deal with the customer service departments of most of the companies in that time frame.

Since leaving the cutlery store I still buy, use and collect knives.
Over the years I have been to Kershaw a number of times with my knives and knives of friends.
Their customer service is so good that I tend to hold them up as the ideal standard of good customer service.

Last week I found BETTER customer service than Kershaw and that better customer service is from BUCK!

Last year I bought a Buck 347 with S30V steel and G-10 handles.
I loved the knife and carried it in the right leg ruler pocket of my carpenter jeans.
It fits great and doesn't fall out. After carrying it there for a few weeks I notices my right thumb was getting sore and something was tearing up the callous on the end of my right thumb.
I realized it was the ends of little fiberglass particles in the G-10 along the edges of the scale and where the grooves are cut into the scale. I stopped carrying it and switched to a different knife and made the 347 my "bathrobe knife."

I sent Joe Houser an email asking if they could replace the scales on the 347 with the Zytel scales of a 345. Joe said he thought they would fit and forwarded my email to Jeanine.
Jeanine emailed me an hour later (or less) and said to sent the knife to her attention. I mailed it out on the 31st.
On February 2nd Jeanine said she received the knife & was taking care of it.
On the 3rd she mailed it back to me. I got it in the mail on Saturday February 5th.

Just 5 days from when I mailed it until I got the knife back with the new handles!
Of course they did not charge me even a penny!

I am now convinced that Buck set sets the standard of customer service in the American Cutlery Industry!!!

THANK YOU JOE, JEANINE & TEAM!
