Edge, that barlow is my apple peeling buddy, so avoiding a patina was gonna be a bit time consuming. ::dang::

Big Monk, thats a beautiful knife. I really love the #73's I have, especially at work. It's nice to be able to trust it's not gonna close on you.
And it's very easy to use while wearing heavy gloves. 8)

Hey Johnnie_______yep,I think it will be a really fun knife, to carry___the scales, are a little thicker, than the two,#72's,that I have been using, and the drop point blade, vrs. the regular clip will be a little different, but I'm thinking,it will ride in the pocket, about the same?? I got another, one of the Rams Horn club knives (trapper) and boy have I taken a liking to it ::nod::
The 3 7/8 inch,sure fits me better,than the traditional 4 1/8in.________I wonder why?? ::shrug::

I thought about this one long and indepth. I consider the ultimate choice in an EDC to be a life's work. Always changing, ever a work in progress.

For example, my needs in an EDC change with the seasons here in Wisconsin. Last week during a bad blizzard I carried a cheaper knife to "protect the good stuff." In a muggy Wisconsin summer I'll choose a knife with a lot of titanium.

In alloys I've been going to "uber-steels." The ultra new stuff, like ZDP-189 or VG-10. However if I was to opine my favorite steel of all time it would D2, hands down.

I swing hot and cold on "easy opening" knives. One minute I'm carry automatics and those offering "speed safe," and the next opportunity I choose a vanilla folder with zero frills. I did that very thing this week--not to mention that my newest knife is always my favorite.

However, the OP narrowed the debate to "right now." In my jeans now is a ZT0300 and a Spyderco Michael Walker in ZDP-189 with a carbon fiber handle.

I feel the exact same way. I just bought a benchmade Sequel from bryan ( should get it in a few days) and I have a feeling that will take its place over my current Case copperhead. I cant promise for how long though LOL!
I have this terrible mental problem that I want to make every knife that I dont have in my pocket my new EDC! I never used to be like that, I guess maybe its just that I am gettin old (I am old)!
Any pics of that ZT0300 & Spyderco ??
I love Spyderco's

Thanks tourist. If you dont mind, what is your first name? I agree with most of the things you have written on this site and find them funny as*&&^% sometimes! thats prob because we are close to the same age.
I love the grips on the ZT , They are sweet! I think most all Spydercos are cool.
Is the ZT pricey??? I dont know a lot about it.

My name is Chico.

As for the ZT line, the price is truly a relative thing.

If you were to get stung for the full asking price, that would be 294 dollars. There are lowballers everywhere despite the "contractual" demands that KAI places on its resellers. I pay a lot less as one of these resellers.

But consider this, the ZT knives are designed in part by Mick Strider. His own line goes for about 400 to 600 dollars. I own an SnG. I forget how much I paid for it, but I'll bet it was at least 400 to 500 bucks.

The ZT then is about half that amount.

Everyone has their own criteria. When I order them I always buy "one extra." For myself! IMHO, they are the best knives sold today.

Thanks chico! I am a traditional folder guy but I have gotten into Spyderco and Kershaw a few times but now I am into Benchmade ( I have yet to get in the mail the first good one I bought yet) so I am curious to see how that goes. That ZT is sweet looking tho!

Thanks, Gino. These are my personal ZTs.

From the top, my ZT0350CB, ZT0551, ZT0300, ZT0302, and the new ZT0121.

All of them sharpened like razors, and all of them are officially EDCs that work for a living.

LOL. You have very good taste! Those are my favorites, as well.

The one that sees the most food is the 3rd one down, the ZT0300.

That second one is the ZT0551, a Hinderer collaboration and highly collectible. Oh well, it's been polished and dipped in mayonnaise already...

You have no idea how fast a collector's face falls when you tell him a limited production knife has sliced open a Chinese dumpling. Often I will show the guy a picture of mayonnaise dripping into the pivot. I do get to keep those knives... ::ds::
johnnierotten wrote:Nice ones,Tourist
I appreciate that. But you should see them live and in color. I handle cutlery every day, and these knives impressed me in just about every way--except for the bevels! LOL!
