1971 Camillus Pocket Knive

Post by papasmurf »

I have an all steel pocket knive made by Camillus in 1971 with U.S. stamped on the side. Was this made for the military? It seems very well made. :)

HI and welcome to the group. Without a photo I can only venture to guess, but I am fairly sure of what you have. Yes that was a military issue. those from the Nam era will sometimes garner a little more at auction. Condition is primary concern though. It would have to be top notch excellent. Hope this helps and that we here more from you in the future.

Thanks for your help..I'm soooo very new at knive collecting that I have no clue where to start. I have a Gurber Magnum Hunter from the mid 70's. A Gerber bolt-action from the 80's, with the saw, and guthook blades. This week i got a great looking Boker 7474ss with mother-of-pearl scales, and the little 188 with the Cere-titan blade. I cannot beleave all of the vast knowlage that is displayed on this site. Everyone seams to want to help everyone out with what they know. Thanks much.

Camillus GI pocket knife 1960

Post by williamcrane »

This knife is tang stamped Camillus 1960 - picture doesn't make it clear. There are a lot of Chinese knockoffs out there - sold as "GI" style knives.
