Is this a Remington??

Post by mikekoz »

I picked this knife up at a flea market here in Raleigh today. It has the Remington bullet knife shield /logo on the handle, but in says Japan on the tang? Were some of these made in Japan? The ones I see around these days are either USA or Chinese made. Any help as usual is apprectiated!!

Mike,

That knife doesn't have Remington anywhere that I could see. It just has a bullet for a shield. It looks like a Japanese made copy of the desireable pattern.

No, its not a Remington. Its just a modern day remake of a Remington bullet. It looks like it was made in likeness of the popular R1123 bone handled trapper pattern. When you say you bought it in Raleigh , is that in Raleigh NC ?

Raleigh NC it is! I thought that this knife was a fake! It actually is in good condition and appears to be well made anyway. I only paid 5 dollars for it so no big loss!! Thank you for your reply, and everybody elses. I am purchasing a knife book so maybe when I dig things like this up, I do not have to always bug all of you!...;).
