TJ, thank you kindly, sir. I'm just a copy cat myself...I try to emulate other carvings I've seen, I am not that creative.

Don, that is outstanding. The cut lines are so clean and there is so much detail.

Thank you , MHill, for your kind thoughts and comments...I try my best to make clean cuts, but don't always succeed. Keeping your tools sharp helps tremendously, but sometimes the wood just doesn't want to agree with what you want to do. Detailing definitely can make or break a piece, sometimes too much detailing ruins a carving. That's one thing I really like about carving cowboys...seems like the more crusty and worn lookin' you make 'em, the better This particular carving was carved from a cut-out designed by Gary Falin. I fixed him to a basswood round that I bought at Michaels Craft Store a few years back.
