Does or did Hen & Rooster have a knife club?

Post by Turkey Creek Tom »

I have a Hen & Rooster (Bertram) with etching on the blade that says "Hen & Rooster Club 1984". Did or do they have a knife club?

Howdy TCT,

I believe by the time that knife was made, they were being made by Robert Klaas for Jim Frost. Nothing to do really with Bertram, that had been purchased by A. G. Russell, then fell into bankruptcy, though the Bertram stamp may still have been on the knives, IIRC.

A H & R Club sounds like something he may have done to emulate Bulldog and Fightin' Rooster, and re-kickstart the brand. But that is just a guess about the club. I know the 1984 NKCA knife is a lockback marked Bertram, but I'm about 90% it was made by Robert Klaas.
