QUEEN CITY FARMERS JACK??

I bought this Queen Jack knife recently and gave very little for it as it is in good to fair condition. Bought it mainly because of the Queen City stamp. When I received the knife, I was very surpised by how well it was made and how well it still works in spite of a rough life. I tried to look it up in "Knives and Razors". The closest I could find was a "Farmers Jack", but could not find any with a bail. I would like to have a description of the bone type and know if it is a Farmers Jack or some other pattern for a Queen. Don't own many Queens, so I thought this was the place to ask! Any information would be appreciated.

How long is the knife closed?

It has Rogers bone handles.

Thanks for the information on the handles. I always have a problem with Rogers bone. I don't know if it is named for the color of the jigging pattern. Must be the color, because I have seen many knives with different jigging patters that there owner said were Rogers bone. Is there an easy way to tell?"

The knife is 4.5 inches long when closed. The clip blade is short and well used, but very tight and has plenty of snap, with that good sound. The knife has all iron bolsters and liners. I took a good look at the hole in the bolster for shackle. It is very prercise with no drill marks. The brass shackle looks original, and I have seen lots of old iron liner knives with brass bails, but somthing tells me this could have been a replacement.

Again any information regarding the Queen City (1918 to 1947, such as the pattern name would be appreciated.

Ken, thanks for posting the picture of the Queen City two blade. As coincidence would have it, I sent you an email today and am buying that knife from you (soon as I get you a money order). LOL and that was before I read your response to my request for information on what I think is the Queen Farmer Jack pattern.

Gino, thank you for posting the picture of your Queen Jack Knife. The bolsters are different but look like the same pattern. Nice looking knife.

No brass to be found in this one. Some sort of plastic handel. 1/2 stops x two.

Joe,

At 4.5" your knife is an English Jack. Not a Farmers Jack.

According to Goins book the tang stamp was used between 1922-1945.

The Brass bail on your knife is unusual.
