Never heard of Stan Shaw, but some nice work indeed.

Just as info,
He is an old school Sheffield cutler. Here is a ditty from the British Knife Collectors Guild...

STAN SHAW ... Sheffield-based British Little Mester producing low volume exceptionally high quality traditional folding pocket knives. A seven year order book means that his knives are pretty much unobtainable. His knives are owned by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of York, and the Queen herself.

Maybe smiling-knife can add some more if he sees this post.

If my memory is correct, Stan is now 76 years old and still making knives. He has been a master cutler form many years and is very well known both here and in England. Here is a shot of exhibition knife Stan made in the 70's that I bought a while back.

Sorry about the picture quality, I have to reduce it a bunch in order for it to fit the page. Knife measures 9" closed and weighs about 8 lbs., here's another shot of it.

I actually just left it opened displayed on my desk for a couple of weeks so that I could enjoy it for a while. Now it's in a zipper pouch 'cause I'm about to sell it. Although it's a knife I'd like to keep, I found out quite some time ago that you can't really be a dealer and a collector at the same time. It's kind of like stealing from yourself

Anyway, here's a picture of the back springs.

What a Red Hot piece for sure!!! ....Do ya'll know what this here STAN SHAW knife reminds me of, some of those display Gem Rooster knives that "Cuz" had done from Sheffield Cutlery, yes , I am sure of it alright!

Stan Shaw started his career as a young lad looking for work in 1940s. He worked for 20+ years for a company called Ibbersons. He then contract his services to a number of Sheffield firms including Wolstenholm, Watts, John Clarke, and even his old employer. When his primary source of business at the time (John Clarke) went under in the early 1980s he struck out on his own. I have heard that there is a demand for his knives that alas will never be fulfilled. Thus, in my opinion, you have a real treasure. Thank you very much for showing this here. Would you mind if I store your photos?
