SHAP LEIGH

Post by gringo »

i turned up a small pen knife...two blade. cute green celluloid swirl pattern...brass liners..

SHAP LEIGH over a diamond,
inside the diamond it appears to be a C-E...the c is obscured, bad stamp.
under the diamond is HDW CO.

I believe the C over the diamond is probably a D: DE : Diamond Edge

Shapleigh Hardware Company was in business from 1863-1960
The beatings will continue until morale has improved...

Shapleigh was an old line hardware distributor from St. Louis. They used the Diamond Edge trademark right up until they closed in 1960, when the trademark went to Imperial. Shapleigh sourced their knives from a number of manufacturers but were always known for quality. I think you have a nice knife from a well-regarded old company.
