Richtards ?

Post by Bomber »

I have a RCMP knife from canada that is marked either Richtards or richlardsit is also marked under that name,Shffield, and under that England..It most likely came from the canadian side as a soviegnier [ I know I butchered that word, lol ] and it has a picture of a RCMP on horseback on the scale [ plastic ?] .It is the size of the average boyscout knife and has one large blade and a can opener and bottle opener, the usual for a scout knife.Any information ?.

fienstahl means fine steel in german. these were not for export usually. sorry couldn't find any thing on your sheffield knife.

My guess would be early to mid 60's and value, I would say $15 to $25.Watch the one on ebay and that will give you some kind of idea to its value........Yours is in a lot better condition and a more desirable pattern.....found a single blade on ebay also...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 72049&rd=1

The writing on the handle of the german knife is hebrew. Its been a long time since my hebrew school pre bar mitzvah days but Ill give it a go.
Looks like Shabbat kiddish. Shabbat simply is Sabbath kiddsh is a prayer over the wine which is said on the sabbath. Not sure of the connection here on the knife though. I will dig out my old hebrew books in the next couple of days a double check myself on that. Hope that helps some.
