Alot of really nice knives posted from everyone. Jackknifeben, that is a great collection of Cattaraugus. And a great row of jacks by Unk, the Keen Kutter with the intact etch is a real beauty.

I have one quick question. Some of the posted knives are more brown than black. How do you tell if it is cocobola or a lighter ebony?

I wonder myself. Some times there is a wood grain type pattern and some times it is slick smooth. But according to CATTARAUGUS if the last number is 6 it is ebony.

The only ebony scaled knives I have. The little Challenge at the bottom was listed by the seller as ebony?? To me it looks more like cocobola, but I have very little experience with either.

Beautiful knives, guys - I love those Catt whittlers ::tu:: ::tu::

I decided to throw all my ebonies / cocobolos in a pile a snap a pic this afternoon.

The top row are all E.C. Simmons Keen Kutters.

The bottom row consists of (in no order) American Shear, Bingham, Brantford, Camillus, Challenge, Empire, Electric, Hammer Brand, Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett, Lakeside, Miller Bros., Remington, Southington, and that old Schatt & Morgan "Jess Crouch".

Nope Dave, I wouldn't dare. My edc's are on the polar opposite of the spectrum. A lil bone handled Parker lockblade, & mini blackhorn are about all I need. Sad, but true.

You've got great taste, Monk. Isn't that dog leg a sweetheart? :D Wasn't sure I'd like it but when the unserialized ones started getting scare I jumped. Was my 1st ebony GEC, and as they say at McDonalds, I'm loving it.

Tell me, on that 66 jack, does the pen blade sit low enough in the frame to not "bite" you? I've seen some pics of & heard others say that when closed the pen blade tip sticks up just above the handle to catch/cut bare skin. I've been eyeballing one of these in bruised banana bone but have held up for that reason. Thanks.
