STEVENS DOG STRIPPER

[just in case]

I got this knife today in the mail. I took a chance on it cause it doesnt have a tang stamp or any other markings except the Ink on the blade .Says stevens dog stripper.3 3/4 long. Any info. ,opinions appreciated.

Sorry I cant help with the maker, but it is definatly a dog grooming knife.
Here is one without a shield. Hope this helps.

Nice knife. It looks like a Case made contract knife from the Tested era. Case did make a dog grooming knife but they are very rare.

A first glance I said Case too? But then I'm Not that educated on their earlier knives, I wonder what made me think this??? If I had to guess I would say the jigging

I didn't know anything about Case ever making a dog groomer, but my first thought when I saw that bone was, "Case".

I've seen the Remington versions of the pattern and I've seen the Spratt's Dog Food marked Sheffield examples.

The subject knife above is definitely nicer than the Spratt's, not as nice as the Remingtons, but it is a beautiful knife and with unused etched blades.

Very nice.

Buzz Parker and Ed Henley list a Case Tested 06245 DG 2 blade dog groomer in green bone on page 168 of their Pocket Knife Trader's Price Guide, Vol. 8. Value is $800.00. Also Jim Sargent's 5th Edition Knives and Razors Guide has pictures of the 06245 DG on page 80. His value is $500.00. Hope this helps some.

Comparing your pictures with those in Sargent's book, I can find no differences other than the tangs. In my uneducated opinion, your knife was made by Case. Jim Sargent might give you more information. I believe he has a website, but I've forgotten how it's listed. Maybe some of the members know.
