this thread has gotten pretty big fairly fast,i have another thread stating my displeasure with case but thought i would ramble on here also,just skimming i seen most of my gripes wobbly miss aligned blades terrible looking jigging poor snap and on and on,then the frost connection we probably will never know if there is one or not as frost could be doing this on his own without cases permission he could be just buying delrin handled knives and rehandling them once you buy something you can pretty much do what you want with it does state on boxes that he rehandles them i dont like it but not much anyone can do with it,my biggest concern is that many long time followers are getting impatient with there products,and the same will happen to case that happened to the american car companies,after shoveing poor products at us for a long time they woke up one day and realized people were not buying there cars no more and the govt dosent bail out small companies, i get the bradford era newspaper and there parent company zippo is in very bad shape last i heard probably like 300 people laid off i believe that info is from christmas time fairly current,with aging novelty products like there lighter no one really buys one to use anymore kinda like pocketknives and chinese knock offs of zippos and a lot off people in this area can foresee the day when you will only be able to buy a reproduction of a case knife sold a smkw made in china i sure dont want to see that

I realy like that mini trapper Gino, here is a recent case knife that I'm impressed with. It even has 154-CM blades and gets wicked sharp.

Forgive me for throwing such a blanket statement out there, but I gave all my reasons in a previous post. I just seem to see a pattern in this thread that some folks (I, for one) believe that Case's quality is, and has been, on the upswing for the last few years. If you haven't handled a Case made within the last couple of years (check the date on the end of the box), give them another chance. And yes, everyone makes an occasional lemon. That's why we always want to open the box before we buy (if possible). Because of the embellishments I'm asked to do by my friends at the Case Collector's Club, I know how they're put together and that they really have gotten better lately.

I am a Case fan too But Frost putting handles on Case knives has nothing to do with their QC.

(IMHO) in terms of Case QC in their own factory, yes, I agree with you sir. however, if Case decided to have Frost putting the handle on Case knives and sell it under the Case name (brand), than Case as a brand have the responsibility to check the quality of the works done by Frost, it's their name on the line here. people like my self, who had little knowledge about who doing what for Case, just assumed that if I'm buying Case knives, than it was made by Case, if it's turn out to be a disappointment than it's Case who get the bad name.

Below is a link to a Case Corelon knife for sale on the SMKW website. In the description it addresses the liscensing arrangement that Frost now has with Case to produce these knives. Case is now providing the knives to Frost (sans handles) with the tang stamping designation of #9 indicating the knife has a synthetic handle.
Unfortunately, Falah, not all sellers are as up front with the arrangement as SMKW is in this listing. I found others with the Corelon handled Case knives for sale who made no mention of the knives relationship to Frost Cutlery.

Please note in the photo of the knife in that listing that there are no pins showing in the handles. I'm assuming (and that's a dangerous thing to do ) that the corelon handles are glued on by Frost as well as the shields. I have no doubt that Case has some oversight of the final product under the liscensing agreement with Frost.

(i was even assumed that yelowhorse is another branch of Case's brand, like northfield and tidioute for GEC )

Well I got the knife today. I like it so much that I made it my EDC.


Its Strong open and close and with half stops even.
Its as sharp as any knife I ever bought straight from the box.
Its very well made in all aspects.
Its a great looking knife.
I give it a huge thumbs up. I really like this one.

I have to say I had given up on newer case knives,but I handled a full size trapper this past weekend,looked like same handle material and shield as the recent knife gino pictured, I was impressed with fit and finish and the handle material.........actually wished it was mine may be time to search out a couple and give 'em a shot

Simpleman, its a 2010 The shield has that old time look to it, thats what made me like it.
