I live in the UK and have recently started whittling again after stopping when I was a teenager.
Well, to say whittling is probably an overstatement. So far I've spent 2 nights at it, night one I turned a 3x3" block into a rough looking toadstool and tonight I turned a Eucalyptus branch into a sort of stylus for my lad to use on his Nintendo DS as he's always losing his.
When I was much younger I probably spent a few evenings or afternoons cutting hap-hazzardly into off cuts and branches attempting to make all sorts of things and probably not getting very far.
I've been told I need a hobby, so I thought.. I have a pocket knife.. I work as a Maths teacher in a school with a very good wood working dept (which means lots of off cuts and scraps) so why not give this ago.
Today I googled for a forum on whittling and found you lovely people.
Be kind to the buffoon you have welcomed into your membership. I hope to keep this going and hope to be able to add comments here (as long as I manage to keep all my fingers intact
Anyhew.. just thought I'd stick my nose above the wall and say hello... HELLO
Thanks for reading..
