Winchester Pocket Knives

A friend of mine has quite a few and wanted to know if there is a following for these?? They are the old ones..

Yes, they are collectors who speacialize in Winchesters. You can search Ebay for past auctions of vintage Winchesters to get an idea. The 20's Winchester knives were a better quality than the 30's were. They cut back on quality in order to lower prices, and that didn't work out real well.

I believe the original Winchesters are still quite popular with many collectors, and can command some good prices for a fine example. I have, well, I guess it's best described as an eclectic type of accumulation, I mean collection, and I enjoy having a few examples in the mix, as they are nicely made knives for the most part, IMO.

How far back are you talking about on the Winchesters?

Ron Stewart's book, The Standard Knife Collector's Guide ($15.00 @ Waldensbooks) has a whole section in the back dedicated to the old Winchester knives.

Some of the valuations are pretty high for mint examples.

I have personally recently turned my collection toward gun maker knives, like Remington, Winchester, Browning, etc.

It seems that these knives have a broad appeal, even to people that don't actively collect knives.
