Who was John Primble?

Who was John Primble?
Did Belknap Hdw Mfg Co. have a factory? Or did they contract different firms to make knives.
According to the tang stamping the 731 in the picture would have been in the 50's or 60's.

I have wondered that myself. Here is my nicest John Primble. When I bought it one of the rivets had not been bradded, from the factory. The knife Dr. bradded it for me and did it perfect. I would consider it near mint or mint. With all the talk about celluloid gassing, I am thinking about selling this knife. The scales are very nice and I am afraid I might not store it correctly.

Not to be a snob as I don't like snobs, but it cannot be mint due to the fact that you had it worked on. Near mint maybe, MINT never. Just my thoughts though. NICE knife and I would keep it as it is a fine example. I would like to know the answer to the "who was John Primble"? Great question that I have heard the answer to. Anyone know?

All I could dig up, looks like John Primble is just a Brand Name, not a paticular person... still researching though!

I stand corrected, PA I will put on my Dunce hat and stand in front of the class. LOL. I will re phrase what I said. I call this knife near mint because I know that it has been worked on. Someone who didn't know what I know might call it mint. How's that?

I think you are right. John Primble was probably just a house name. The person who knows for sure has probably been gone for years
