Need help with a Kinfolks

Hey guys, this belongs to a buddy of mine that wants to put it back into use. He lost the pommel and finger guard and doesnt remember what he did with them. He wants stacked leather back for the handle but in black instead of brown. My question is, does anyone know what the finger guard and pommel looked like originally? Does anyone have these items that they would part with? Anyone got a picture of an original? Originality is not of great importance to him, we also discussed using a pommel like what is used on the CASE Finn series. The tang appears to be 1/8" by 7/16" and the threads either a 10-24 or 32, my thread pitch gauge is not close at hand. Also may be interested in an original type sheath if its in good shape. Blade is 4 1/2" long by 1" wide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill

I've got one around someplace that I think might be the same knife...if it is, mine has black plastic guard and pommel. I'll see if I can locate it and take a couple pictures.

Not sure what you want the knife to look like when you're done, but Kabar sells the guard, leather washers and pommel for their WWII fighting knife for $7.00 (& $6.50 shipping) that looks like it would fit your knife. IF that's what you want your knife to look like, it might be the way to go.

Kbar Mk2 type hardware would probably be way too big, but many knifemaker's supply companies carry parts that would work.

Thanks for the responses. Elbertson, that sure looks like it. I wouldnt have believed it would have had a plastic "type" material. Huh--you learn something every day. Like I said, its not mine, I'm only helping out a friend. I'm sure he will want something in nickel silver, from our conversations. Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the help. Bill

During the war years, they made quite a few of them and materiels varied. I've seen one with a plastic guard and an aluminum pommel.
