Something I never knew...

Post by SFC ADP »

So I was doing some reading tonight, and I never realized that Acorn Shield Remingtons would have a "punch" blade on them. I do not have any remingtons in my collection at this time, and the only one I had was a letter opener which i sold.
Interesting reading though, I am sure remington collector can verify or dispell this?

You are correct. A Remington with an acorn shield should have a punch blade. And the reverse is true 95% of the time, if it has a punch blade it will most likely have an acorn shield, there are at least 8 pattern numbers that I know of that doesn't follow that guidline. The R100B being the most common. I have read in different books that a Remington with a punch will always have the acorn shield, which is not always true, but a Remington with the acorn will have a punch.
