Electro etching a vine pattern on a lockback spine

Post by snorkel »

I did this as a test to see if it was feasible and I believe it is with the right stencil.

I did this with a safety razor and black electrical tape and salt water as the electrolyte.
It's crude because it was not easy using a safety razor, but with a exacto knife I think the results
could be very good. The etch is very deep and took about 1 minute to do with a diy deep etching pad.

This is with the DIY etcher I built for 30 bucks by the way :-)

You could also etch more complicated patterns I'm sure or at least etch patterns and then use them as a guide for filing.
