This one just arrived today, it's an Imperial Cattleman pattern with the punch blade, all blades snap and after cleanin it up a bit, I can see that it's a quality knife alright. The tang stamp denotes the years of 1930 to 1936. WoooooHoooooo! Celluloid in blue and cream color. Measures about 3 3/4 in length closed. Has some scratches on the bolsters and handles and shield but who cares, it's from the 30s! I gave it a little drink of Rem oil and still need to Renwax it. ::ds:: The 2 blades are very sharp indeed, whoever carried this knife took good care of it. Wish I knew who it was. ::nod::

Bonehead:

That's a beauty!

That's also the lowest run of the recent GEC 36s so they're scarce and hard to find.

Nice score!

That's hunk of love right there! GEC even knows how to make the big dawgs!
How does the snap feel on these versus the others, just curious on what changed? ::shrug:: Slower, tighter?
Thanks

Thanks Guys! I'm addicted bad... on GEC Fish ::doh::

Perry, The snap really is no different than the northfields I have. That being said, I've got several of the 36 patterns, The Northfield without a doubt does have a stronger snap than that of the Tidioute models? The weight does feel a bit more than the earlier ones with Stainless bolsters and liners, but then again I didn't put the em on a scale ::shrug:: IMO the stamping on the blade is first class. The feel of one of these guys does feel good :)

Thanks again for the kind words Guys, Alan

Just got this little Boker 8588 stockman today. It's the first "near mint" example of a circa 1982 Boker I have.
I used to think this "TREE BRAND" shield was a lot older - until I got hold of a 1982 catalog. She's 3 3/8" long, delrin handles, carbon steel blades with a nice blade etch.
(The knife on top in the first photo is what I'm carrying right now. It's a 1950s era 8588 with a reshaped main blade.)

Thanks Alan for the heads up on these knives! I really like them. Hey Blu, that top one does look very classic with that threaded bolster on it. But they have very nice jig bone, gives them both that old timey look to me. ::nod:: ::tu:: They look to be in perfect shape too.

That's a good looking knife, Johnny. Love the swedge. It gives it kind of an old time look. That's another pattern (along with Dr knives) that doesn't seem to get much love on AAPK.

I agree....and I have to admit its not a pattern that I usually buy.
But I am extremely happy that I did....I totally love it. ::tu:: ....its thick and beefy...not your typical toothpick. ::tu::
