Cool new forum - lets see some Tree Brand

Here's a few Boker patterns that I really like :)

The Copperhead and Whittler in smooth red bone, and a Congress Carver with wood scales. Carbon steel. All 3 are in the regular EDC rotation

This lil one has found its way back to me. I think I got it around 1980. I bought two, one for me and one for my Dad. Surprisingly, I have mine and he lost his. Usually the other way around. (Or did I lose mine and take his back LOLOLOL) Wonder if he's readn these forums yet?

This large Stockman has Boker and J Wiss & Sons (1974) shields. For those who may not be aware, J Wiss was the NJ based company making Boker USA knives at the time and also an importer of the Solingen made knives. :D s-k

Thanks a lot. I think we finally decided that it was about a 1961 vintage. It has French ivory/faux ivory/ivoroid handles.

Not as pretty as most I see here. This WAS my everyday carry knife until I saw that it was made in '72-'73.
My brother gave it to me a few years ago. Didn't realize I'm carrying a knife that is almost 40 years old.
BOKER USA tang stamp - Tree and 84 on the reverse tang. Shield fell out. Anybody got one they want to get rid of?

ranger, just cause it's 40 years old don't mean you shouldn't carry it. Two of the four knives I carry daiy are about 50 years old.

O.K. Muskrat you talked me into it :D - especially since I found out I can get a replacement shield from Boker. Now it will be new again! It sure does sharpen up nicely.

Here's a couple from my corral:
A 4525 stag trapper I've had for about 20 years and a 2000 I just picked up yesterday.

Nice pics, everyone.
I did want to bring up one thing, though. The United Bokers are their own unique brand, and unfortunately, not affiliated with us. United Cutlery had, at one point, paid a fee to use
the Boker trademark. I have tried to find information, but since United shut down, I cannot find anything. I know most of them were late 70's/early 80's vintage, but that is about all
I know.

Good info TJT!
I wondered how United fit in ... looks like they don't!
That whole decade of the 70's, with WISS, COOPER, et al were pretty dark days...

It was, especially for trying to figure out who made what. It was a good day when Boker was able to re-aquire the US rights, and open back up here.

Did United use steel from Boker, or steel from some Solingen, Germany Steel Factory maybe? From their tang stamp it sure appears as if they were given some huge allowances in usage of Boker's trademarks. On the surface seems like a bad move on Boker's part. I wonder what the "rest of the story" is.

I thought I had seen this knife before. Here's a link to a thread in which we were discussing a knife like yours.
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... 60&t=17660
If the knife really is pre-WW2, the handle material should be bone. That's a keeper.
Nice thing about the Bokers is nobody knows anything about them - so you can get a good deal on a nice old knive.

Just saw another one of these on ebay.

Note that this one has the BOKER/USA tang stamp, which is generally thought to be made after WW2.

here is a pic of the blades that are stiil on the knife, they still have great snap and alot of use in them. there are no chips or cracks on the handles and the liners and springs look nice still.
