New Lives for two old barlows

I bought two old barlows as parts knives from Coffee Cup - one a Camco with badly worn blades and the other a Boker with the primary blade broken off. Otherwise the knives were in decent shape, so I sent them off to Muskrat Man for rebuilding. I asked him to cut them down to single blades, carbon steel, spear, something of the same vintage that had some wear so they wouldn't look incongruous. If you've seen Muskrat Man's customs you know what a fine craftsman he is, so not surprisingly he sent me back just what I was looking for. The Camco got a Kutmaster blade and the Boker got a Camillus blade. I'm real happy that he will take on these little repair jobs for me. These two old knives are all set for another fifty years of use now, and they are something I'm proud to carry. I showed one of them to a lady friend and she admired it and said "that's a man's knife." I think I know what she means - nothing fancy, just stout, solid and workmanlike.

i have 3 barlow type knives and one that my dad carried for 25 years and wore the blades down to nothing. i great job on the reblading. i have a scc schrade in orangeish delrin and a camco barlow in the standrd black delrin and a camillus barlow in red delrin. i love barlow knives. enjoy your refurbished knives.

Anybody that has not figured out yet that I almost get a woody at Spear Point blades also knows that a spear in a Barlow or Jack is just this side of heaven!

Thanks guys, Muskrat Man is the craftsman behind these knives, and he deserves the credit. He has done three of these single-bladed, spear pointed barlows for me and they are some of my favorite knives. Dave, I'm in total agreement, and I like the single-bladed ones the best because they carry so easily and inconspicuously.
