ObsidianEdge, Welcome!
You're going to like this place.
Man. The only thing that could make that Henckels better would be an Abercrombie & Fitch blade etch. That's one of the nicest Continental multiblades I've seen.

Here is an old Pal Brand knife. It's tiny, about 2 1/2" with a faded Masonic symbol etched or engraved on the pearl. I bought it mostly for the cool little blade etch "Pal Brand". This is a German made knife, not to be confused with Pal Cutlery Co. of the U.S.A.
Goins date this stamp from 1924 - 1939.

ObsEdge; Thanks for the comment about the website. It's a work in progress.
I can tell from what you've posted in this thread thus far, that we're certainly going to enjoy having you here at AAPK.
Keep 'em comin'!
I like that PAL BRAND, too, MSteele!

Here is a real survivor.
James Boden Sheffield, Circa 1841-1876.
The secondary pen blade still has the original polish
, looks like this blade was unused

One more to keep the thread going... a circa late 1800s Baxter & Son. Has fancy filed springs and milled brass liners.

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
Here is one I have no information about.
Marked on the master blade H. Waschow, Berlin. Anyone know anything about this mark? Big slabs of MOP, front side is nicely engraved. The spring in the scissors is missing, otherwise it looks unused.
SK,
That is a real nice knife, just look at the fancy filework

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
Here are a couple of Utica's that I have. I am not sure if I ever posted the large one. The smaller one with the worked backspring has been a worry because people that have seen it have said it was not a factory knife!! But the copy of the Utica Catalog that I just got has the same knife in it mentioning the worked back. The pattern numbers on the blade match what is in the catalog also.
I will be posting more knives now that I have my computer working again.
The pearls posted here are great!!!!

Very nice mops everyone. This seems to be a somewhat unusual pattern.

I agree! The last few he posted, I had to look up because they weren't from companies I had even heard of before. Very Cool!Miller Bro`s wrote:Keep em coming Mikegalvanic1882 wrote:I will be posting more knives now that I have my computer working again.![]()

Here is a little 3 1/8" closed split backspring whittler. Clay Andover NY USA.
The snap on the main blade is still very strong even with all the use it has had.

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
Clay is a company that I know about... Clay is one of Bret's favorites. He found one at a flea market one day & liked it alot.
We saw one on Ebay, that he told me to watch & bid on in late spring. I told him I missed getting it but I actually bought it myself under my ID. I gave it to him as one of his birthday gifts. Hardest part was controlling the urge to show it to him when I got it in the mail!
Both of his are bone & I think Bret888 has posted pictures of them on here. I would love to have a pearl! But of course, if I got one, it would be "mine"!
Thanks for sharing, Mike! You have a terrific collection

Springbrooke Knife Co. LG4 says, Dunham Carrigan & Hayden San Francisco harware wholesale brand. (1895-1920) Pocketknives by New York Knife, fixed blades by L F & C. This knife crossed through Ohio on its way to California, and then migrated back to Ohio where I bought it from a dealer from Indiana.
An uncontrolled accumulator.

Nice knife definitely by NYK Co. Here is a picture of a Springbrook made by NYK Co.
It is exactly like a NYK Co. except somewhat heaver duty. Sorry the stamp does not show clearly.
Edit sorry forgot this was about Pearls
