Did I do allright?

Post by Turkey Creek Tom »

Went into an antique store this afternoon and the manager was showing several pocket knives.
I was able to get this Hen & Rooster mother of pearl congress (HR 114) for $52.50 --- Did I do allright?

Tom ; Looks like a real nice find to me man.

I do not know about the $$$ part, but the knife looks like a $75.00 knife.

Do not drop her she will brake like glass. I have seen one fall apart at a knife show then the buyer was trying to open the blades and dropped it. ::tear::

Howdy Tom,

What is the Tang Stamp info on both main blades?

Nice knife, why are the scales so brittle? Age or just that type of material?

IT IS JUST THE PHOTOGRAPHY - THE KNIFE IS GREAT - REAL FIRE PEARL HANDLES - MINT KNIFE EXCEPT FROM WHERE IT HAS BEEN OPENED A FEW TIMES.

Howdy friends,

Ratchet ....True Mother of Pearl handle material used for knives & Gun grips is always brittle unlike real pearls used for old age earring jewelery mostly because of the fact when used for the above applications it is much thinner & processed differently under pressure in a mold thus making it weak & brittle in nature & as justold brought to light, will break like glass if dropped or handled roughly!

Tom, nice piece! I think you did well as it is my belief that your Congress pattern goes for $75 to $125 depending on condition!
