Tasco World Class Hunting Knife

Post by pbamom1 »

Can anyone tell me the age and value of this knife? We acquired it a while back and I have found nothing to compare it to. It is mint condition (we have trouble getting good pictures). We also have the original sheath. I think the model is K1100. As you can see it says Tasco World Class, then smaller lettering Tasco, Miami, Florida on one side and 440 Vanadium Stainless Steel, Japan on the other side. The ends and dearhead are silver with a black blade.

Tasco is a manufacturer of optics(I have a Tasco 3X stamp reader sitting atop my computer to read tang stamps)so I would guess it was a promotional knife that may have been a giveaway with one of their rifle scopes.
As to who made the knife;it looks similar to the old Jet-Aer G-96 brand knives that were made in Japan in the 70's and 80's.Looks to be of reasonable quality. The Valor Company was located in Miami Florida and had similar knives as well so it might be one of theirs.
You might try e-mailing Tasco to see if they could supply the information.

Tasco makes a line of rifle scopes they call their "World Class" scopes. Here's a google link to several sites with them.........

I suspect, and perhaps dimly recall, a special campaign they ran where you got the knife when you bought the scope. Been a while and I don't remember breakfast ::dang:: so take it for what it's worth.

I have this same knife. I bought it from Service Merchendice years ago before they went out of business.
Guess Tasco was soon to follow.

when my youngest brother died 16 yrs ago i found a tasco folding knife among his possessions. he was a huge fan of hunting and fishing. it wasn't the one discussed here, but still it was a big, over 4" closed, folding tactical. it was barely used, if used at all. i gave it along with all the other hunting and fishing stuff to his son. i would think that he still has it.
i wanted to keep that knife, it seemed like very good quality. but i figured his son would be proud to have it.

I also have that exact same knife. I recall buying it sometime in the mid 80's, I think. It appears to be a solid knife.

At the risk of reviving a VERY old thread, I bought a Tasco knife today at a pawn shop for $3.
One shield is missing, the blade has been tipped and poorly reprofiled, and it has some blade play.
Still, it is a very heavy knife. I hope to see if I can fix it up to make a decent user out of it.
At $3, I have nothing to lose either way.
I will post updates when available.
