The saw is surprisingly effective, but I must admit that I seldom actually use it, so I usually choose another model, the Pioneer. Both great knives!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I thought it might be interesting to revisit this thread to see how my habits have changed--and to ask how everyone elses' habits are changing?
Back in March I was carrying a Schrade 194OT in my left front pocket, an Orvet-customized stag-handled TL-29 in right front pocket, a Schrade 6OT in my left hip pocket, and a little de-bladed swiss army knife on my keychain.
The 194OT got bumped out of the lineup by a well-worn Camillus 69 premium stockman, which migrated to the right pocket (it sits better there). The Orvet custom went to the left pocket. The castrated Victorinox got moved to my work keychain, so most of the time I don't actually carry it. The 6OT still rides in my left hip pocket and has even managed to pick up some specks of rust, despite the Schrade+ stainless blade.
I'm also carrying one of those knives that just didn't work out: one of the new lockbacks GEC put out built on the 73 frame. Love the knife, just don't see any point in carrying a knife that requires I carry a pair of Visegrips to open it. Later tonight it will get donated as a raffle prize.

Quality should not be an accident. So what is the explanation for some of the knives we've seen in the past few years? (from A Knifebuyer's Manifesto)

Here is what I carry everyday. Victorinox Pioneer & keys in left front pocket, Case 22087 Medium Texas Jack in right front pocket, and Case 2138 Large Sodbuster in a sheath on my belt. If I have to dress up it usually means I have to travel, then the Sodbuster goes in my computer case.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I thought I'd finally chime in on this thread. While I collect Whittlers (mainly the Case model 83), I've carried a Half-Whittler for years until Case come out with the Tony Bose Norfolk. It's basically a Half-Whittler on steriods and is a real work horse of a knife. I also carry a Case Trapperlock in a leather sheath on my belt. The sheath was made by our friend Rayban of RG Leather (Rick Garcia in Michigan). It's just loose enough that a flick of the wrist opens it which comes in real handy when you have only one hand available.
Of course all of this is subject to change depending on new models that may become available, but for now these float my boat just fine.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I probably replied way back. This might even be a repeat.
I carry a SOG Twitch II clipped in the back of my right front pocket. I usually take seals off of trailer doors with this knife.
I carry a Cabelas Scout Knife in my left front pocket. I usually fix torn or torn off mud flaps on trailers with this this knife.
I carry a Rough Rider Sleeveboard Whittler with red bone in my right front pocket. I most often clean my nails with this knife.
And when I am wearing cargo shorts there is most likely a Camillus TL-29 with a VERY sharp blade in the left cargo pocket. It makes a MUCH better steak knife than what the truckstop restaurants try to pass off as "steak" knives!

Wow !!!!!! must be Case week,or the "'Full Moon""
---------nice stockman BAMA88'
I found this Case 6292, two blade Jack,at the flea market this morning !!! has a little patina spotting, but didn't look to be sharpened,or used much, cleaned up pretty good, sharpened both blades_________now,she's going places__________________ with me
As much as I have carried a stockman (3 blade) over the years,________I hardly ever use the spey blade
just cause,I open the other two first___I guess?????? how about you guys?????? Also, the 6292 pattern,is 4 inches,a little bigger than I usually carry, but we'll see how it goes

I've got the blades on mine ground differently; the clip blade is ground about 25 degrees for general cutting, the sheepsfoot at 20 degrees for a bit sharper edge, and the spey is ground flat. I use it when I need a very sharp edge: first aid, skinning, "neutering" livestock, etc. (And yes, I clean it after use.)big monk wrote:As much as I have carried a stockman (3 blade) over the years,________I hardly ever use the spey bladejust cause,I open the other two first___I guess?????? how about you guys??????

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Love the red jack monk!!!
coffee cup i dont use the spey blade either....i keep it scary sharp though...just in case.
i use the clip for food only (steaks apples etc) and the sheepsfoot works great as a general utility
blade (boxes, stripping wire, fingernails, and such)
I like the 039 case cv ive been edc'n but i wish i would have got the 204 cv. its a lil bigger and i like its clip better.
next im gonna try a Bear and Son Carbon stockman in red stag bone.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Blindog,
Nice combination!
I've never had any of the Vic Alox knives in black...
Alabama,
Nice serpentine Stockman!
Monk,
Very nice find!
When I got my very first Stockman (too) many years ago, I immediately liked it and I've liked the pattern ever since. I think this must have been my first knife with a spey blade, because I remember being unsure about that blade style. For a while I hardly used it, but then I thought "well' it's there, let's test it and see what it is capable of!" I started using the spey for many tasks and I enjoyed it, so my spey blades get their fair share of use.
Basser5/Kamagong,
Nice!
You can come a long way with a one-bladed knife, but more than one blade does offer additional possibilities.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I use to only have one knife, that I carried everyday----a Case 6318 Stockman, bone handle---pretty much carried it till,it was sharpened to nothing, then got another one ( on sale )
___I had never carried a stag knife,( only collected and saved those )_____then I found AAPK,______________read,listened,watched,learned,and changed my whole idea, about knives in general-----found out there were other knives,in the "'WORLD"" other than Case
----now,I have the knives shown,on my desk, for everyday carries, and seems to be,my first decision of everyday now is,____________which one I'll carry for the day
not really an easy thing to do,so early in the morning, but I'm loving it
Thanks to all of you guys and gals,______________and to Bryan, for such a great place to talk about and share knives__________________Monk
