Nice thread!
Lots of interesting knives, both old and new.

Got my 1st Opinel in the mail today. I have wanted to try one as an edc for awhile now. I got a new #6 carbon off ebay for a whopping $5.52 + $5.50 shipping. It is light weight and being cylindrical rides in the pocket quite nice at 3 3/4" closed. Blade is quite thin and I don't believe it will hold up to some of the tasks I put a knife through. I am an engine and compressor mechanic for a natural gas co. and I value a good knife just as much as a MAC or Snap-On 3/4" wrench. I will say this, what Opinel lacks in blade thickness they make up for in ::paranoid:: a factory edge. This puppy is SCARY SHARP! ::tu:: I'll let yall know if I break it after the 1st day. I do have a fine selection of screwdrivers and pry bars.......... BUT....... a pocket knife is a lot easier than walking all the way back to my truck utility bed! lol! :D

Found this Letter Opener Knife on eBay for a dollar plus shipping. Nice old Imperial with (for 50-60 years old) pristine clam shell handles and bolsters. Only a few spots on the letter opener blade and the knife blade has never been touched. It's my first and I'm quite pleased with it.

Hey everyone---------I got the mini-trapper from Otto,at the Thursday night auction,last week !!!!Bu-T-Full !!!!!!!!!
A big-o thank ya', Otto -----that is one pretty little stag knife ::groove::

Caught the little 5344 Stockman, trolling the "'Bay"" last week--------man-o-man is that stag thick---it has the 1990 Bradford ,Pa. tang stamp, and I'm thinking this was the first stag scale,on this pattern ???? someone let me know ????

Found the 10 Dot (1980 ) 6318 HE,at the flea market today, and the guy, gave me a good price,_____just had to bring it home ::paranoid:: ---the 6318 pattern, was what started this ""evil sickness"",that I'm afflicted with,as that was the first pattern,I can remember hunting for ::nod:: And let me tell ya',she is SHARP-----I had to put a rubber band around my thumb,to stop the bleeding, while I super-glued the wound shut and wrapped it with tape,so's I could finish my photo shoot  ::dang:: ::mdm::

Well, I'm impressed. Darksev put that one together. What a beautiful knife that turned out to be.

Thanks for the heads up Joe. I have to admit that the ubiquitous saw cut delrin gives me clostrophobia over the years.
Frankly, before I joined AAPK, I didn't know replacement could be done. One of the reasons I'm so grateful to be involved here. Well, later for that. I have to go now. Here in Connecticut you can be hauled in for drinking beer and using the computer at the same time.

On the way back from the grocery store this morning I stopped at a garage sale just down the street and asked if he had any knives. He said he had a few pocket knives so I crawled off the bike for a peek. He had a Japanese Sabre, a couple of Chinese tacticals, a Pakistani lock back and this K-Bar. He asked $2.50 for it and after I got it home I decided I should have looked a little closer and offered $1.00. Some heavy duty garage customization went on at some point in this old fella's life. "Patience" is scribed on the pile side of the blade. I should take that as a life lesson. ::dang::

Before I joined this board I read all through the main topics, and believe me, by the time I finished reading about the counterfeits I was pretty spooked about buying a knife from ebay. But after seeing guys come up with some good knives at attractive prices, I thought I'd have to give it a try. I found a little Imperial jack that nobody seemed interested in - maybe because the pictures were a little out of focus and didn't show much detail - but I figured for 99 cents plus $4.99 shipping I wouldn't be out too much if it came a cropper. Well, the knife came last night and I must say it exceeded expectations. Granted, it's just an Imperial, and an advertising knife at that, marked for Lawsons Products Incorporated on the back, but it has beautiful handles, a shield and a good strong stamp. The blades are full with strong snap, half and whole stops. I'm quite pleased with the little knife, and I'll probably make some more judicious purchases on ebay. Still, nothing beats a good AAPK store...
