A gentleman emailed the attached pictures to me looking for information about the pictured knife. He informed me that his grandfather gave it to him 40 years ago. Anyone care to comment?

I presume counterfeiting started to gain in popularity at the same time that knife collecting started taking off...?

Hello Bryan, that is very interesting the pictures look to me like some of the new fake tested knives that I have been seeing in just the last few years. Nothing looks right shield glued on, bone not right gigging, in general not even a good fake.

Whoa! Is that a crater below the shield where the backspring pin should be? :shock:

i know that bomb shield is wrong. did'nt they originally use raised letters on the tested era bomb shield?
