Hello from E Washington
Hello,
I just discovered this forum by doing a day long search for Ellenville Schrade knives (amazing how quickly the time can go when you do that). Recently bitten by the Schrade bug and although I've been involved with knives for a number of years, Schrade grabbed my interest like no other (not the recent versions of course). I was actually there the day the factory closed...walked around inside the factory. It was depressing but I don't need to tell you all that. Live in Spokane now, retired Educator, write occasionally about knives. I figure I'll have some fun here and manage to learn a little at the same time. And start collecting Schrades...especially those lockbacks!
Glad to be aboard.

That must have been a really sad day at the Ellenville factory...
You will find many fellow Schrade enthusiasts here.
Looking forward to reading your contributions!

Welcome Steve!
If you haven't discovered it yet, there is a bunch of stuff I have posted in the Research Section on Schrade.
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/sch ... /index.php
There are quite a few Schradeaholics here on AAPK.
Do you get down to Oregon much?
Oregon has a great knife club; the Oregon Knife Collectors Association, (OKCA).
Here is the link to there website:

At OKCA we have a great show every April. Some say it is the best show in the country for old knives.
Some say it is the best show in the world for old knives.
400+ tables, as well is displays & demonstrations.
We also have a one-day mini show in December. Loads of fun!
I hope you can make it down!

Quality should not be an accident. So what is the explanation for some of the knives we've seen in the past few years? (from A Knifebuyer's Manifesto)
