Peacefull Saturday morning and I was reading through the ressurected TL-29 Electrician Knife thread when I got to the (current) next to last post by Dale (Orvet) and wouldn't you know it, there went a chicken.

He has a link in the post that points to the U.S. Militaria Forum. There I found a thread called My War Building -- http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ ... opic=29989 -- It's 18 pages long so don't go unless you have a few minutes. Yes, there are knives scattered through the thread, page 12 has a few.

From Nov '08 to June '10 -- Holy Scheiße Now that's a collector.

By the way, Dale. He lives just down the road from you in Turner, OR.

I am stunned!

This guy has more military stuff than most military museums.
I saw three shelves about 20 to 24 feet long (based on estimated 4 foot or 6 foot shelving units) covered with military knives!

That is one tiny part of his whole building full of military stuff!
I think he said the building is 2 stories and 5800 sq ft.
Over four times the size of my house.
He lives about 10-12 miles from me.

Maybe we will meet someday. I would love a tour!

yeah I have a customer that has a collection of model cars that takes up a 30 by 50 ft game room, ceiling to floor and displays everywhere in between its freekin amazing.

I did not see any pocket knives

He has a lot of military sheath knives, but I have seen a private collection of them that makes that look tiny. A WWII vet I met 15-20 years ago who was injured in Germany fighting the war, he was taken in by some friendly Germans and nursed back to health. He eventually found his way back to his unit and survived till the end of the war. After the war ended he was stationed there for 5 years during this time he collected guns, knives and military items. He buried them on the property of the people that helped during the war. I guess it was illegal to have nazi stuff laying around. He would send it back a little at a time some with other military personel, some he got back himself. He said every G.I. after the war was allowed to bring home so much "stuff", meaning weapons. He paid some a small fee to deliver the stuff he collected in Germany to his mother In Massachussets. Most that lived in the area did it for nothing. He sent back so much stuff he opened a military surpluss store in his 50`s and lived off the income for the rest of his life. He in particular like guns and knives and very rarely sold many of them. It took a couple of years but he finally showed me the knives he collected while in Germany during and after the war. I have never seen so many military knives anywhere, trunk after trunk full to the top. There had to be over two thousand. I lost touch with him and I never did find out what happened to all his knives
