Buck Knives & their Repair

I just wanted to give the folks at Buck a note of appreciation and let others knifers know what kind of people they are when it comes to their customers. I had an older Buck 301 stockman knife that had seen some bad use (not by me), and had it's main blade shortened a bit from that misuse (remember this when someone asks to borrow your knife for a moment). I threw the knife in a drawer and left it a couple of years then on a spur of the moment thing I decided to contacted Buck and sent them the knife. After a couple of weeks I received the knife back with all 3 blades changed and they were era correct as the same year as the blades that had came original on the knife. Their repair cost was very affordable and I had only paid for the main blade to be replaced. I was quite surprised to see all 3 blades had been replaced and the knife was cleaned and polished and looked like new. The knife was not a exchange for a new one because my Buck knife had been marked by me and it's the same one I got back. You get more than you pay for from Buck and with that type of customer service, I will be acquiring more Buck knives in the future. If you have a Buck knife, or were thinking of getting a Buck knife and were wondering about their products and services, put your mind at ease. They really are customer friendly. Kudos to Buck and keep up the good work.

Costs for non-warranty blade replacements are $10 a blade, but there is no labor charge for them repairing your knife, like Case Cutlery does. Case Cutlery charges something like $15 per knife labor charge regardless of what needs repaired on the knife, plus the costs of parts. Buck charges $00.00 labor costs and only charges for the parts needed for the repair. Buck will even clean up and remove the scratches from the other blades in your knife (if it's not a single blade knife) and resharpen them. In my case they replaced the other blades in my knife, which was a surprise to me. They do really good work and they are very nice and friendly to talk with. You may want to contact Buck by E-mail first to get a quote on what the repair is going to cost if it isn't warranty work, and they can tell you what is and isn't covered under warranty. If you send Buck a knife for repair be sure to write a note and put it with the knife describing again what you want repaired, and give your complete name, address, and phone number, and payment for any non-warranty parts. I would also suggest that you send your knife insured with delivery conformation (not that Buck would lose or keep your knife, but we all know how the good old U.S. Postal Service is). Buck says to allow 6-8 weeks for turn around time, but I had my knife back in my hands in a couple of weeks and it looks like it's brand new. I think you will be very pleased with how Buck will treat you, as I said they give you more than your money's worth. Hope this helps.

I think BUCK Knives Inc is the best in the business. They do suggest that when sending in a knife, you address it with the initials "BKI" instead of Buck Knives Inc. They say it helps minimize "lost" packages.
