I like that Buffalo Horn , Johnny...
... and that stag is great , big monk ... and that's a slick SAK , Frodo
Here are a couple GEC's that I have been totin' around, the stockman since 2007 and the congress since 2009, I use both as whittlers ... They really hold their own ... real nice patina has developed on the backsprings.
by the way, don't worry...I don't grind down all my knives, just the ones I use to whittle...I have other GEC's in Mint condition, in Tube, for now ...

Awesome knives, Don.
I love the looks of that stockman, kinda looks like it has two different jigs to it.
I agree Froggy, it's nice to see a knife earn it's keep.

I'm glad you put that note about grinding those knife's blades down CD, cause when I saw them I thought "Good Lord! he must be whittling out a log cabin house to wear those GEC blades down that fast".carvin don wrote:Here are a couple GEC's that I have been totin' around, the stockman since 2007 and the congress since 2009, I use both as whittlers ... Wow, you blokes freak me out. What I wouldn't do for some of your fabulous collections. Carrying even a boxknife in OZ (Australia) is considered an offence, and doing a "fast-eddie" won't easily get you off the hook with the "boyz in blu". I'm as jealous as hell.

One of the drawbacks of living "down under". But of course you always have Vegemite. So with what do you cut things that need cutting?nifty1940 wrote:Wow, you blokes freak me out. By the by. What's a "fast-eddie"?

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Thanks for the empathy blokes. As for Vegemite, we Aussies lost our icon to an offshore company, now THAT sucks.... personally, I like Promite. "fast-eddie" is slang for a bloke who can rattle off excuses, explanations, justifications in the hope to bamboozle and win the other person over. I carry a 30mm long, single blade serrated edge fold knife on the keychain, and when asked "oh, it's handy to cut string and stuff with..."BUT, i'd love to carry a real knife for a whole lot of reasons, not least of which, is as a tool and handyman arrangement. Perhaps I should move to the USA where freedom seems to be protected by legislation - the !st Amendment (?). Cheers.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I guess carrying a Buck 110 (blade length, about 9.6 cm) would be out of the question then.
I certainly feel for ya'll. Those who would have us all go back to the womb don't get that bad guys will do bad things with what is available at the moment.
Here in the States, our liberties continue to be nibbled away. While the 1st Amendment (freedom of religion, freedom from a state mandated religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom to peaceably assemble and freedom to petition the government for redress or about a grievance) remains a well tended shining example to the world of how things should be done, the 2nd Amendment (right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed) is beat to hell, slowly becoming a shadow of the framers intentions and covered with scars left from the continual attacks by those who would enslave us all.
Politics aside, I currently carry a Buck 055 (blade length, about 6 cm) and sometimes use it to cut my tucker.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Funny I was just sharpening and polishing up my old 110 yesterday. I usually carry it if I'm out hiking or fishing or some other outdoor activity. For work or other EDC situations it's a bit heavy IMO. It would really suck if it were illegal to carry it when I wanted to though. I was somewhat surprised to hear of the strict laws in Australia
