Hi zeke,

This is just my opinion...but, for the modern stainless steel Remington that you ordered, one drop of any lubricant such as mineral oil, 3 in 1 oil, or even automatic transmission fluid, will suffice. Just wipe the knife off after using it, as well. If you expand your collection to include several knives, some of which may not be stainless, then you might consider spending the money on one of those kits...or you may learn about various lubricants and methods of protection to just build your own less expensive kit.

Other opinions may vary.

Zeke,
That kit would prob last you about a month. All the quantities and products are minitureized (SP?) to fit into that little bag.
As for LOBO's advice on using mineral oil or 3 in 1, whatever, I suggest you use a high-quality lube. I am positive LOBO speaks from experience as he is a well-rounded collector, however, if you ask any of the scores of folks who have purchased and used any of my complete care packages, all of the products are top-of-the-line, and enough to last you a good long time.
I am also available for anyquestions. Email me at anytime. Um, that goes for anyone knife-brothers.-Glenn aka ILIKEKNIVES I-LIKE-KNIVES

Ola Ken,
Thanks for the kind thought man, it's nice to have knifer friends.
Nice to be "back" if that's what I am. OK,, See that??, here I am now.
I am still with the multi-thousand dollar teeth obstacle. Read on to see my vent to p***ing (thanks Lobo, for a politically correct way of using the asterisk to convey the word "pimping" 8) ) away a lot of cash in a hurry. Don't get me started on the money-google called Dentistry. (OK folks, I know it's actually using asterisks to hide the word pissing)(aw crap, did I just booboo and say something naughty??, I'm so so sorry,,,doggone it/me/Dentists anyhow. Oh, fiddlesticks ::huff:: -(thx G'ma) )With a new house, new animals, girlfriend(she's not 'really' new) trips to the Dentist, etcetera etcetera, etcetera, (thx to baldy Yul from 'The King and I')., not much time to do what I love,,namely, knifing. I have saved your email re: S&M's and Schrades etc. They are still here and I will be listing them in my store soonest. Not much faith in the dog-EAT-dog world @ FLEA-BAY anymore/lately/evermore? ( Epiphany; Dog?,,,,Flea?,,makes sense to me now why it (and paypal too) suck(s) napalm !! Moving my store inventory, setting up new digs, office, photo tent, blah de-daa/ yada-hey,,,ya know? Not lazy, staying quite busy and sleeping wel because I NEED it. Like a**holes everybody's got one, excuses, excuses, excuses. SOOOO, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Pretty flimsy right??BUSY,,however, One thing tho,,AH,,,,UM,,,,Dee-Dum,,THAT'S the FACT, JACK. (Thanks Bill Murray--"STRIPES") However, for you my knifer friend, and all PK'ers, I will find time to correspond back to you. Perhaps even phone if better than email. As I headed this post,, by goodness, I can fly on this keyboard (QWERTY) now that I have been typing for 10+ years.
ATTENTION----ATTENTION---ATTENTION: My AAPK store (i-like-knives) is magically filling itself with holiday goodies for us knifer folks along with other cool "knifey" kinda stuff that'd be appreciated for an X-mas present. Of course,,WAY more important, this kinda 'stuff' (Care items like polishes, waxes, lubes, polishing cloths, specialty tools and so much more will be USED by collector's (of knives and collectibles). I have personally researched, tested, and I fervently stand behind all of my products. If it ain't good for me and to me, I won't sell it,,,or for that matter, I won't sell or endorse anything I haven't tested personally and can easily benefit from and praise to my knifer friends. Just me here,, small store offering a full-line of cutlery and any acessory you could desire, topped off with personalized and professional service before during and after the sale. I answer my own phone, and advice is free here.Thats it about the store, as this is not the advert forum.
Ken, I did notice the emphasized/bolded double-n's accompanying my name in several places. Its refreshing to realize, some folks in fact DO recognize the 2-N's in my name and those who notice assuring they address me correctly, get a gold star for the observation and a slap-happy atta-boy if they should muster the effort of an extra keystroke for factual righteousness, though a miniscule second tap (thereby, tap-tap) on the keyboard lower case "n" seems too much for some as my name has been misspelled since childhood, confirming idiot status of some, pure laziness, or simply-purely and idiotically not paying attention. In these instances since early childhood, I have found it at times necessary to purposely misspell the writers name by adding a ridiculously placed consanant, hopefully shedding light and bringing attention to the lacks second "N". It seems the slightest basic respect to spell an individuals name correctly, with me as most, it DOES matter as it undoubtedly would to them given the "other shoe" (shoe on the :"other foot")
Furthermore my Illinois brethere' (one of many folks I know south of the state line). Indeed, I caught the humor in bolding the 2-N's; it was subtle, amusing and understood. Thanks for the light-heartedness Ken.
The question regarding the weather "up here" confuses me slightly as you are absolutely far, far less than 100mi south of my digs and I would venture the weather is doggone near or wholly the same temp/type.

Finally,,,,,to Ken,,,,,,ZEKE pointedly,,,all & any other wild hair PK-ers,,please feel free to email with any questions, at anytime regarding my store offerings. Be it a knife or a product,,,I wholly and unabashedly stand for and behind all which passes through my domain. Man, this was fun to write and conjure.

Sincerely wish you all are well. ::tu::

Apologies all around

Post by ilikeknives »

Sorry Knife Brothers,
I was wound up and first I noticed the length and breadth of my post was a nagging multi-finger cramp(s)
I guess more'n anything, its a dissertation on the shameful, non-existent, and inexcuseable(sp?) state of health/dental care (HA!)(NOT!!) for citizens of the richest country on Earth ::barf:: . Another big green weenie for the ever-widening middle class ::disgust:: .
Couple that with my familiarity with the qwerty, well, you see the outcome. Glad no hard feelings Lobo.
Typed extra slow.
Glen-n 8) Thats right, two N's dangit.
Love you guys and this place, feels like homey. ::tu::
