Finnish Knife Value?

Good afternoon, I just joined AAPK. My father sparked my interest in collecting fixed blade knives and I found AAPK while doing some research.

I have a Finnish puukko that my father gave me, and it was given to him by his father. From what I've found, it looks to be from 1942 - 1944. The scabbard is made of pressed and lacquered cardboard. The grip has a red crest with gold lion on it. The blade is etched with the Finnish town name of "Kauhava" and the name etched into the blood groove is "Matti Klemola".

I'm trying to get an idea of value, I don't plan on selling the knife, just would like to know what it is worth. I've added some pictures and hope someone can help.

Beautiful knife.

I think that knife could easily bring $100 on ebay. May be a tad bit newer than 42. If I recall correctly the pressed paper sheaths were used for a few years right after WWII.

One of the more knowledgeable gents will weigh in and straighten me out I'm sure.

Then you ask for the value???? Perhaps $1000,00.

I know you said your not selling her. So why are you trying to put a price in it?

Perhaps to make it a $$$ value when you pass it on ?

Then give it to your first born grand-son Then it will be more valuable and your kids will not ask what’s it worth...

Nice and well built knife you have. They were made to be used and still are.

Just clean up that rust and then Ren-Wax her and wax the sheath.
I do not store my knives in the sheaths.
