Seeking Infor on Butterfly? or Gravity? Knife 1950-1960"s

Post by fjfagergren »

I'm trying to find further information and thus possibility of purchasing a "vintage" knife from the 1950's or 1960's. At the time of purchase from an Arizona Curio store, it was listed as a gravity knife but was more similar to a butterfly knife. A single blade between two handles that both swung outward and then locked at the end. Most butterfly knifes I now see are very narrow handles and generally long thin blade. This was a very substantial blade, over 4 if not 5 inches long and at least 1" wide. The handles were also much wider and thicker than modern butterfly knifes.

The blade did not drop out like a gravity knife but rather was accessed via a similar swinging action used with a butterfly knife.

After losing the one I owned, I've only seen the same knife once - in a pawn shop and I foolishly failed to purchase it.

Anyone have any suggestions on manufacturer, type of knife or any other leads?

thanks
