german eye question?
hello, first off, i am new to knife collecting. so, i may ask some dumb question's at some point. so, look over me. my question is. i have a two eye or 3 eye. depends on who looks at it. i have know ideal. it has two eyes on the blade with "premium quality hammer forged solingen germany. and one eye on each blade. it is a two blade trapper. with stag handles. ok, i went to trade it today. and the dealer pick it right up and said someone put these handles on this knife. i think he is full off it. but i dont know for sure about the knife. i think he was trying to get me to trade it . and get it for nothing. but didn't work. i have a little money in it. and if some one put these handles on this knife. then they are better than factory to me. can some one tell by the picture. thanks denny

That's a nice looking Eye with some nice stag handles. We talked about a knife I bought, just like yours. Knive made mid 70's to early 80's. Here's the read:

Re: german eye question?
looks fine to me, many people tend to think many german knives have been rehandled becuase of the rather rough haft jobs, it's just German style, your knife has not been rehandled. I have 5 or 6 like yours with various styles of hafts, most look just like yours. Kind of funny though, all the mint ones I see have rather plain stag. all the ones with the nice knargly bumpy stag have been used LOL
