BALANCED SAMBAR STAG ?

GENUINE NATURAL FAT AND WELL BALANCED SAMBAR STAG ?

Can any one set my mind straight here?

I have some Stag handles most of them look nice but one thing I do NOT understand.

As in this photo one side of the handle is soo much thicker than the other side.
Why is this? WELL BALANCED ??

I guess that in their opinion the stag knife is about as equal as it comes when one is matching a natural product on a knife handle. I have seen worse, matter of fact take a gander at the following picture.

It all depends on what floats your boat, some folks actually would rather have the imperfection of natural stag not match so perfectly and others want and expect balanced handles..

That's my opinion...

ok kool that is one part but you did not say any thing about WHY is one side so thick ? other one thin ?

Some collectors seek this variation which gives a knife character and is different from the assembly line knives we so often see. Many people like one of the slabs to be thicker because of "the feel" when using it. Others like it matched for thickness or "gnarliness". To keep cost down, they apparently dont take the time to sort them anymore.

I was hopeing the answer would be for right handers or left handers

There are many makers who might use a "Palm Swell" for a right or left handed person. For my $.02, that would mean the thicker, smoother side in my palm...and the thinner, gnarlier (particularly stag or bone) side gripped by my fingers.
But, sometimes I'd like to see closely matching handles, in color, size, and figuring, especially in wood
However, if a knife looks good to me, and feels good in MY hand, I'm happy... ...well, most of the time.
