Wanted: Imperial "883", or any info, pictures.

Post by Joe Dirt »

I'm searching for an Imperial 883. I have a store display for Imperial Diamond Edge knives. It is from the '80s and it holds 10 DE's from the 851 thru 860. There is a place at the bottom of the display for the "883". There is no "DE" after the number. I have been able to find all the correct DE's in the display but I can't find nor even know what the 883 looks like! I have searched eBay for over a year now without any luck. It measures around 8 1/4in. open. Any links, pictures or other info. will also be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe: [email protected]

It looks a lot like yours, rc. Except that mine has a place for a "883" at the bottom. I can't even find a picture of it to see if it's a fixed blade or a folder! I've searched high and low to no avail!
I wonder how many different style display boxes like ours were offered to the merchants?

Don't you reckon that's a fixed blade/hunting knife and not a folder?

WOW! Thanks rc! At least I now know that it's a fixed blade!
What does the tang stamp read?
Is there a blade etch?

That display cabinet + knives actually bleongs to AAPK member "glennbad ". I remembered seeing it in another section and brought the picture here for you to take a look see. You might send him a PM and see if he can provide any info about the 883. ::tu::

No blade , etch, at least on the examples I have seen.

I don't have the knives in front of me for the tang stamp. Let me get home tonight and look, I may have an extra for your display.

BTW, here is a link to Larry's site, where the flyer is displayed. It is the DE-79...

::tu:: to Joe Dirt.

I was able to get him a suitable 883 to fill the spot in his display, but he also helped me. My 859DE was in okay shape, but Joe offered to send me one of his. It was much nicer than the one I had.

Thanks Joe!
