Number of different handle materials

Post by Little Lee »

Hi again,

To help make up my mine on my way to go with my collection, I have another question.

If you take all the years the Seahorse whittlers were made and add on all the handle materials used, does any one have and idea  how many different knives there would be in a complete collection?

Also, what other models would carry a Wharncliff blade on it?

Lastly, which would be the best catalog for me to pick up? I would probably also be collecting other brand knives with a Wharncliff on them.

Thanks, Little Lee 8)

I don't know if they are all on this list, but most are...

I've seen wharncliffe blades on a lot of Case patterns. A lot of them were special factory orders I believe. I've seen them on Copperheads (regular - XX49 and mini - XX109), trapper's - XX54. A few others too, I think, but don't recall for sure. If you keep your eyes out at shows, eBay, AAPK, you will see them around. I think my dad has a blue handled copperhead with a wharny right now as a matter of fact. If you want it, I'm sure I could sweet talk him out of it. I think I seen a mini Copperhead at http://www.collectorknives.net in autumn bone with a wharncliffe blade. You may want to shop around there a bit. If I can think of others, or If I see some around, I'll post some more.
