Opinions on this Remington RS-3333?

I know the man that bought the RS3333. He buys only vintage knives in mint to pristine mint condition.
I talked to him, he thought the knife sold at a very reasonable price.

I really like Remingtons, especially the old ones. To find one in "mint" condition would be a rare find these days. This one is more than I would pay, simply because I cannot afford it !! As it is, I think that sometimes I paid too much for some of the "whistles" I came across. But if some one as fortunate to be in the position of obtaining Old Remingtons in "mint" condition to add to the ones he has already collected, wow! - that collection could be in a museum one day.

A number of years ago when Ebay was a lot newer phenomenon, I saw a seller (seller was not a knife dealer but IIRC specialized in scouting items) put up an original Remington factory cardboard display box with a number of original dead mint RS333's each still in its original box. I forget how many knives there were but it was either four or six. I think the lot went for a total that worked out to over 600 per knife.

Steve, I remember the sale you are talking about. The seller had got the box at the estate sale of a former scoutmaster in the 1920s, 30s. The larger red box that the scout knives came in, each in its separate box, had originally held six knives of which there were four remaining in unopened condition in its box. The sale gross receipt for the four knives plus all five boxes totalled a little over $2600 but I don't remember who the buyer was, it occurred when ebay was still posting the usernames but I was still kind of an ebay newbie then and wasn't familiar with the buyer. I'm guessing that happened in 2003 or 2004 and I wonder if they are still together today, it would have been a shame to break them up because they were probably the only group that complete in existence. I want to start by saying that both of these RS3333's are beautiful and authentic. Having said that I have two examples of Remington Scouts with full blade etch. One is a RS3333 and the other is RS4233 JR. Scout. The RS3333 has an acorn shield and the RS4233 has the round shield. The blade etch on both is different than the two on Ebay. It is spread out the length of the blades. Also the punch on the RS3333 is still blued. Can anyone date the difference between these knives? The etching on mine matches the picture in the Stewart & Ritchie Remington knives past and present book.
