Reb Whittlin'
Been fighting carpal tunnel lately, so I hadn't been doin' too much whittlin', but here is a lil' reb I carved to get me back in the groove.
By the way, I took a seat in the back row last night in the AAPK auction room, really enjoyed it. I will have to look in on more in the future, and Mr. B's intros were most enjoyable. Kinda' like watchin' old Hee-Haw episodes.

islander,
Thank you for your kind words. Yes sir, This lil' reb was carved from basswood, great carving wood.
I do both...some cutouts i'll buy, others I cut out on my bandsaw. Lately I have bought (or have friends cut them out fer me) more than I cut, saves time and potential finger loss
This lil' reb soldier was from a cutout from a friend in Tennessee, which was originally a hillbilly cutout. With some imagination, you can turn the cutouts into just about anything, within the shape of the block of course. Here is a hillbilly I carved from the same blank, I added a corn cob pipe for some more visual interest ... Thanks for lookin'
