PUMA GAME WARDEN 970, WITH SHIELD?

Post by ideal25 »

HI ALL,,,IM NEW TO THIS FORUM. can someone tell me if a 1972 puma gamewarden, 970 ever came with a brass shield on the knife body..I bought one on ebay to replace one that I lost as a teenager back in 73.. it should arrive this week...
the knife looks legit. but the shield has me wondering...I never saw a 970 with a shield.
could it be that what looks like a shield is a display tag..from the box?
thanks for any help that you can give me.."Tom 'c.

::welcome:: Ideal25,
That is the paper sticker and not a shield.
I've carried a smaller version of this Puma (Gentleman) as well as other lockback Puma's.
I think you will love that knife.

thanks paul, I thought that might be the case,, I recieved the knife today...Its great....it looks like its been open in the box since 1972...it was so tight that I had to soak it in oil before I attempt to close it.
