Schrade 805?

Post by SFC ADP »

I picked this up at the antique store for $10.00. Can't find it listed in my references. Looks like the shield is stamped KON-KAV, but my references show others stamped KON-KAY.
1st Question, what was KON-KAY supposed to be or mean?

2nd question, pattern 805, not finding a listing on it as of yet, any ideas on mint value? (Which yes I know this one is not mint)

Main blade is stamped:

SCHRADE
WALDEN
N.Y. U.S.A.

Opposite side is stamped 805 (guessing on last digit, pretty sure it is a 5, still need to clean some of the crap off of the blade. No other markings on any of the other blades.

If anyone has info about this knife, what years produced etc. I would appreciate it!

KON-KAV is correct. It was used as a means to advertise the hollow (concave) ground blade profile on the Master blade. I think there were 3 patterns (805 was one of them), IIRC. Used to have an etch on the Master.

Thanks for the info Bill & Jonet!
Any idea's on year produced? And possible Values?
Only Kon Kav I can find is in my old 1984 Official Price Guide, that has the picture, description is mis-spelt as Kon-Kay, which was a C3-863S.
Never heard of the Kon Kav blade Grind Profile, thats why I love this hobby, always something new to learn!

I'm going to post this information courtesy of Codger and his research work over at the Schrade forum...

FYI,
I have a copy of a 1975 Shortline catalog which lists the 805 for the whopping price of $7.75. I was fortunate enough to find one on ebay a while back. Nice little knives.
